Former Brazil manager Dunga has said that Hulk can replace Ronaldo. “Ronaldo was a player like no other, but his place in the national squad is still there,” he told Record. “Therefore, Hulk can become his successor. He is not alone in that race; there are several players who can get there.

“But he has the necessary quality to impose himself in that fight,” continued Dunga, who left Brazil last year after guiding them to the World Cup quarter-finals, and also gave Hulk his first cap.

“If he continues playing at Porto like he did last season, he will certainly start playing more regularly before the [2014] World Cup. Now, it will all depend on himself and on how he progresses,” he concluded.
