Egyptian international Mohamed Salah was amongst the goalscorers as Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at home to record a big victory in the race for the Premier League title. In what was billed as the top-of-the-table clash in the topflight of English football this term, the Reds were able to overcome their title rivals in front of 2,000 fans at Anfield to move above the North Londoners on the league table. Liverpool had trailed Spurs on goal difference ahead of their game which was undoubtedly the star match of gameweek13 in the Premier League.

Liverpool took the lead through leading goalscorer Mo Salah on 26 minutes. Mo Salah broke the deadlock after his shot deflected off Toby Alderweireld and looped over Hugo Lloris in the Spurs goal. With the goal, Mohamed Salah is now the joint leading goalscorer in the league alongside Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-Min and Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The lead given to the Reds by Mo Salah in the first half of the Spurs game lasted for just seven minutes before the visitors equalized through the aforementioned Son Heung-Min who levelled with Mohamed Salah and Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a result of the goal.

Tottenham Hotspur had some very good chances in the third quarter of the game through Steven Bergwijn and Harry Kane, but they were unable to take those chances. Dutchman Bergwijn hit the post when he was one-on-one with Liverpool shot stopper Alisson Becker before star striker Kane headed over from a corner kick almost immediately when the Englishman was free in the Reds box.

Those misses would hurt Spurs who conceded the winner to Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino on the stroke of fulltime. The Brazilian international powered in a header from an Andy Robertson corner kick to take Liverpool three points clear at the top of the table.
