Fernando Torres has been a serial winner of trophies in club and international level.
He has accumulated a number of trophies like the Champions League, Europa League, World Cup, and the European Championship to name a few. He has the chance to add yet another Champions League medal to his collection when Atletico Madrid bid to reach the final of the 2015-16 competition. They take on Bayern Munich in the semi-finals after having just eliminated Barcelona in the previous round. This is yet another huge test for the club in their attempts to create history, according to Torres.
Despite having won numerous titles, Torres has added great that he has won only one major honour with Atletico Madrid. The SegundaDivisión victory in the 2001-02 season is the only title Torres has won with his boyhood club so far. Considering that he made his name at Atletico, it is not surprising that Torres wants to win all other trophies once again with the club from Madrid. Atletico remain with a chance of winning the league title and reaching the Champions League final. The latter, though, appears extremely difficult with Bayern Munich standing in the way. Torres, who has been in fine scoring form of late, believes that Atletico can get past the German outfit.
“I feel very fortunate to have played in great teams, have had unbelievable nights and trophies with Spain. But for me personally, nothing could compare to doing it with Atleti.I do not consider myself the badge of the club — that is the values behind it. We just try to communicate those values on the pitch.Being united we know we can lift the fans, make them believe, and tomorrow will be another chance to show them the correct way to win,” Fernando Torres said.
